As jy so dierbaar sal wees kan jy sommer die dryfhoutfotos hier kom plaas.  Baie dankie.

Sea-hares (Aplysia sp.)
The sea slug AB Russouw saw could be one of two species: Aplysia dactylomela (no common name), or A. oculifera, the spotted sea hare. As is often the cases in sea slugs, colouration and pattern can show variability within the species, making visual identification a bit uncertain. A. dactylomela is described as "green or brown ground colour with large black circles." The circles are large, but the other photos I've seen show circles formed by a thick line, whereas with the one shown it is very thin. The spotted sea hare also has circles, but these are small, with a pale centre. Now given the variablility this is either A. dactylomela with large but narrow-lined circle, or A. oculifera with unusually large circles. Of the two A. dactylome can grow very large: up to 40cm in length, whereas A. oculifera is smaller, at 15cm length.

For more details on this species, see "Nudibranchs of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay" "Coastal Fishes of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay" "A field guide to the Marine Animals of the Cape Peninsula" available directly from SURG or better dive and book stores in Cape Town.

Goeie genade!  Ek sou kon help met die boeke!  Kan jy bestellings deur Kalaharie.kom plaas?  Ek dink dit sou makliker wees om deur die internet aankope te doen.
