When loved ones walk
Are we, the living
The only to brave
The living world?
Are we the living
Capable of seeing
A departed loving soul?
As I'm sitting
In the dead of night
Contemplating, thinking
In the barest of light
I am sitting at the table
Reading, drinking, thinking
Then, in the smoking room
The subtlest movement
Catches mine eye
Sitting on the settee
In the smoking room
A gossamer thin shadow
Is it a dearly departed spirit
A dearest friend, a loved one
saying one last final 'bye?
Or is it
Imagination
Playing with mine eye?
Will we ever know? Interesting topic. Very good poem.
'n Mooi gedig Natalie. Dankie vir die deel.
